Our impact on the sector

The use of technology to enhance learning, teaching and improve organisational effectiveness in the UK Further Education and Skills sectors has changed beyond recognition in the last 10 years. This is due in no small part to the work of the JISC Regional Support Centres (RSCs) in moving both individual learning providers and the sector as a whole forward.

Impact reports

Achieving solutions through technology (pdf, 2.1mb), a report on the Academic year 2010-11, demonstrates the tangible benefits for the sector. A provider explains:

“they act as our top level e-learning advisers and will have both saved us money and helped us earn money/access sources of funding.”

In 2010, the RSCs marked their 10th anniversary by celebrating the impact they have made on the sector in the report: Regional Focus: UK Impact (pdf, 1.2mb). The report outlines how the RSCs have supported and responded to sector changes, helped to increase technology uptake and made a significant difference to the sector. The report features examples of the RSCs' work with supported learning providers and partner organisations.

Customer satisfaction surveys

Each year, the JISC conducts a customer satisfaction survey across all 12 Regional Support Centres. The responses provided by our learning providers help us to continually improve our service.

The most recent survey (pdf, 1.6mb) was carried out in June 2011 and involved 1,650 respondents. As well as identifying the value of the support currently offered, the survey also addressed future support required, communication methods used and overall satisfaction. The results recorded an overall rate of 87% customer satisfaction, with an outstanding 50% of respondents declaring themselves 'very satisfied.'
