Assessment

AssessmentThe use of technologies in the assessment process is a key part of the teaching and learning and business processes of all learning providers. Improved engagement of learners in the assessment process can be achieved through online assessment practices to reinforce and improve learning. RSCs support learning providers in the implementation of systems and practices which:

  • diagnose a learner's current stage of learning and future learning need
  • enable effective formative assessment of learning
  • enable reflective learning
  • enable peer-review and mutual support amongst learners
  • enable on-line submission of assignments, provision of feedback, and grade storage
  • promote inclusive approaches to assessment which minimise learner disadvantage
  • track progress within credit accumulation systems
  • track progress against awarding body standards
  • enable authenticated access and management of learning by assessors, internal and external verifiers
  • enable integrated and 'lifelong learning' models based on the development of the Unique Learner Number
  • enable accurate assessment data transfer between stakeholder organisations (funders, awarding bodies, learning providers, employers and learners)
  • enable accurate analysis of achievement data for self-assessment, inspection and funding.
