Content management
RSCs support the development of systems, management practices, and manager and practitioner skills in the field of content management through networking of emergent good practice, direct consultancy and brokering of training.
Content can relate to learning materials, learning management, organisational management, marketing and external presentation, or external networks or accountabilities. In all these cases learning providers need to develop staff roles and management systems to enable access, which may be openly shared or authenticated to a particular role, grouping or level within the organisation or between organisations.
- 'Learning materials' includes books as well as electronic and on-line content, as access to such resources involves electronic library systems which incorporate a diverse range of technologies
- Learning management is the targeting and tailoring of learning content to suit learner need and to become part of a structured learning programme; it also includes subject area resources, schemes of work and lesson plans and access to these by staff and managers
- Organisational management concerns authenticated electronic access to policies and procedures and codes of practice in a way that ensures currency and single-source access to documents which are part of legal, governance, employment or student charter obligations
- Marketing and external presentation concerns the development of accessible web-content based on single-source content with real-time update
External networks and accountabilities concern content from external bodies (exam boards, SSCs, Government departments) or documents which are shared between peer organisations as part of a shared service or network of providers.
