Adult and community learning

People-orgThere are a number of organisations in the region who are involved in the delivery of ACL. They vary from local authorities providing direct provision, partnerships with FE colleges and contracted out arrangements with schools, colleges and voluntary organisations.

Since March 2004, RSC South West has been working with ACL providers to promote the benefits of using e-learning in ACL and to ensure that all providers take advantage of the funding and training programmes available through NIACE. There has been a series of events and workshops across the region, including

  • ILT strategy writing events for managers
  • Workshops for tutors on using the NLN Materials
  • e-guides training for tutors

Further education & sixth form colleges

people-computer-orgSince their inception in 2000 the Regional Support Centres have worked closely with the Further Education (FE) and Sixth Form Colleges sector. We exist to enable institutions and their staff to make the most of existing technology through innovation in the delivery of learning.

We can help organisations to use technology to address governmental policies, such as the Framework for Excellence or Every Child Matters, and individual learning provider strategies.

Over this time the sector has proved to be an equal partner with FE, ACL, HE and other sectors in the ongoing LSC strategy to extend e-learning across all post-16 sectors. The RSC South West team has worked directly with WBL providers in the region to ensure that the opportunities created by the development of new learning technologies can be fully realized to the benefit of learner's providers and staff.
