Technology for Learning Small Grants Programme update

19 Dec 2011

This term we launched our first JISC RSC Wales Techology for Learning Small Grants Programme and were overwhelmed to receive 45 applications by the deadline! All were carefully considered against the specified criteria and as a result ten have been chosen for funding. The grants, each worth up to £2500, cover all our supported sectors including Further and Higher Education, ACL and Workbased Learning. Successful applicants include:

  • Aberystwyth University
  • Cardiff University
  • Coleg Llandrillo Cymru
  • Glyndŵr University
  • Gower Colleges Swansea
  • ITEC Training Solutions
  • Merthyr Tydfil CBC
  • Neath Port Talbot ACL
  • St David’s Catholic College
  • Swansea ITEC

The Programme as a whole is focused on using innovative applications of technology to enhance quality of business whilst also generating overall cost savings. Projects are expected to demonstrate how outputs have been used to inform strategic decision-making as well as clear evidence including impact measures. They cover a wide range of themes including sustainability, apps development, inclusion, mobile technology and streamlining business services.

The background to the call is available at http://moodle.rsc-wales.ac.uk/tfl/ and we’ll be updating that web resource in the New Year with fuller details of project coverage. Over the next few months we’ll be staying in touch with the grant recipients to help them manage their projects and we look forward to seeing them all progress.

Well done to all the successful applicants and our commiserations to those who weren’t successful on this occasion. With many strong applications it was not an easy decision to select just a few. However we hope that all supported providers will stand to benefit from the lessons learned by the participating projects and we look forward to sharing their findings later in the year.
